Being a US Citizen living outside the USA I get alot of interesting and sometimes StRAngE questions/comments on the USA from people in other countries. Thought I'd share some of them with you.

Pony-up and Cowboy-on!

Okay, so I haven't followed up on that "Nexus" thing in a while. It's because the Nexus continues to pursue me. It's the Neverending Story but without all the funky critters and flying furry dragon-dog thing.

So, yep there were lots of decisions to be considered, made, trashed, rethought, redetermined, trashed, rehashed, revamped, revised, redone, retrashed, etc.

It finally ended that on 1 June 2007 I submitted my resignation, provided them with 30 days worth of job-transition time to make sure I don't leave loose ends behind, and I even have a moving company coming to estimate the packing and relocation expenses. Then what?

Big boss says, "You're leaving Thailand? Great, I want you to come work here!"
uh...? Okay, what's the job scope, etc? "Let me work it out and get back to you later this week." Okay boss.

That was on the evening of Friday 1 June.
Saturday? Sunday? Monday? Tuesday?

Tuesday I got a call from someone else in the same company who'd heard a rumor I was resigning. Yep says I. "Great, I want you to come work here!" What's the job, says I. "Blah blah blah" Okay says I. Sounds interesting I'm happy to consider it.

Wednesday I got requested for an interview appointment. Thursday I had the interview. Friday they discussed it in the regional HR meeting. Friday evening he says it's approved and when would I like to start? I'll need to know what the package is before we agree to anything. "Great!" says he. "I'll talk to HR and get them to call you." Cool says I.

That was on the evening of Friday 8 June.
Saturday? Sunday? Monday? Tuesday?

Guys, you have 15 days to work it out.

Nothing like already having a plan to make your side of a negotiation easier. It's one of those things where I already had somewhere to go, so if they want me here, it's up to them to make it worthwhile. I've never liked that feeling employers try to convey that you are at their mercy so you should just bend over and take it like a roman soldier. This time it's my turn to drive. ;-)

So, my last day of work in Thailand one way or the other is 27 June 2007. I'll let you know as things progress (IF they progress). Otherwise I'll see you in H'patch before the kids school year starts. :-)

Yeah options are good. We're still waiting for HR to send something for us to consider. I'll let you know how it goes.

Where is "here"? My vote is for H'patch, but then I'm a little biased :)

Like the biscuit, I too, was wondering: Where is "here"? IF you don't come back to H'patch where will you be going instead?

Nashville. I think Nashville sounds like a good place for you to work.
Just sayin'.

You're coming home?

And what do you do again? I need to switch to doing whatever you do.
